CHAING MAI MARKET

Sometimes I try to avoid the commerciality of Christmas, which I learned is no easy task in today’s world, but recently I went to Thailand and Malaysia to do so. Fat chance! One afternoon, while having afternoon tea at the Four Seasons Hotel in Bankok, 22 small Thai children marched into the room, dressed as Santa and began singing Jingle Bells! It floored me and I realized there is no escape! We hastened out of Bankok to the highlands of Chaing Mai to cool off and visit friends who happen to manage the Regent Resort of Cheng Mai, much more than a hotel, in an incredible setting among the hillside rice paddies. Go there if you ever get the chance. On market day I found this lovely little girl selling her wares and with her mom’s help, and my guide, we got the picture.

Go back…
